FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Navistar to Move Engine Production Out of Huntsville
.
HUNTSVILLE, AL — Navistar, an engine manufacturer, has announced it will be moving its mid-range engine production output from its Huntsville plant to Melrose Park, Ill. later this year, according to Waff.

“Ending production at a facility is a difficult decision because of its impact on the many great people who have been part of our company,” Navistar COO Jack Allen told Waff. “We understand that these decisions have an impact on our employees and the community and will treat our people with dignity and respect throughout this process.”

The company announced the move is part of a consolidation plan. 280 jobs in Huntsville will be affected; those jobs are expected to be phased out by the summer, Waff explains.

The Navistar engine manufacturing campus in Huntsville, AL has 2 buildings. These buildings are described as Plant 1 and Plant 2 in the Blog which I wrote and may be reviewed here:

MaxxForce® Engine Plant Tour - Huntsville, AL

In my opinion, it is likely that Navistar will shutter Plant#1 and that Plant#2 (Big Bore) to continue to operate where the Heavy Duty engines are produced.

My interpretation is that the MaxxForce 7, MF11 and the DT engine production will be moved to Melrose Park, IL.
