Reflections on this Year's Louisville Show

In many respects, this year's National RV Trade Show was like all the others I have attended during my 12-year career in the RV industry.

There were ample examples of new product innovation on display. It was a chance to reconnect with old friends and make new acquaintances. It was still an awful lot of work to walk from one end of the show to the other multiple times each day. But, it was refreshing to see the entire industry gathered in one area – manufacturers, suppliers and dealers – and everyone generally optimistic about the year ahead.

Not one person I spoke with was expecting a banner year in 2012, in fact most expected everything to be flat. Flat is no fun and it is hard to get excited about a flat year. But, flat apparently pays the bills and keeps people employed and busy, which is why most people seemed content with another steady year.

I was very disappointed with this year's Outlook breakfast. My enthusiasm for the annual event has been waning for several years, but this year’s presentation left a lot to be desired.

Continued .....

Coming Monday – Greg's picks for the most innovative products at the show.
