Towable Sales Down 49.2% for Jan

Statistical Surveys Inc. has reported that for January 2009 towable retail sales have declined 49.2%. which was worse than the 39.9% decline reported for December 2008.

• Fifth-wheel trailers sales dropped 50.2% to 1,947 units.
• Travel Trailer sales dropped 48.1% to 3,496 units.
• Folding camping trailer sales have fallen 49.3% to 285 units.
• Recreational park trailer sales are down to 60.4% to 111 units.

Thor Industries holds 28.2% of the travel trailer market and 40.2% of the fifth-wheel market share. Coleman Camping Trailers brand has 38.9% of the folding camping trailer market.
