Thanks Edgray and you're not butting in at all.
I have the 2 side by side electric fans that are easy to see. You mean there is another one behind the radiator that you can't see from the front? And that's the one that roars? If so, that would be 3 fans. I was amazed that the two fans I see in the front could make that much noise. And they were working on my AC for about a 20 minutes with the engine idling and I could'nt hear any fans roaring. So with the crystal air AC ,it would have a total of 5 fans?

YES, Max49. The intermittent ROAR you hear is the main engine-driven fan, which is there to cool the water in the radiator, which cools the motor.

The two electric fans are primarily there to aid in cooling the freon inside the A/C condensor. I think you will see them running anytime your motor has reached operating temp. AND the A/C is on. Those little babies could not blow enough air thru your radiator to cool off that big 8.1 L engine.

I'll defer to DriVer for the answer to your "total fans" question, as I am not that good at math . ED

Yep! 5 fans!

You see humor works! I love that line Ed! You see there certainly isn't any need to be so stuff shirt all the time.
