Duramax Diesel Engine Debuts in Workhorse/GM Class C Chassis

UNION CITY, IN., November 29,2005 "” For 2006, Workhorse Custom Chassis continues its impact on the Class C motor home market. Having launched the 14,050 lb. GVWR Chevy Workhorse cab chassis in 2005, Workhorse has become a full partner with General Motors for two more Class C chassis "” GM's 9,600 and 12,300 lb. GVWR models are now Chevy Workhorse chassis.

Of course, anytime Workhorse is involved there's an exciting new development. For 2006, the Chevy Workhorse 12,300 lb. GVWR model will also have a diesel engine option – GM's renowned Duramax™ 6600 Turbo Diesel V8 with 250 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. RVers with a bent toward diesel can now get one right in a Class C coach. Along with the 6.0L Vortec™ gas engine powerplant, they'll get the same performance as a high-end SUV or pickup, only with a chassis designed for motor home drivers.

That performance is the signature mark of a Workhorse chassis, and these platforms are no different. Performance tests comparing the 14,050 lb. GVWR Vortec-powered model with its Ford competitor showed the Chevy Workhorse chassis in front in 0 to 60 acceleration, 40 to 60 merging, 50 to 70 mph passing and in grade climbing ability. And, for those concerned about high gas prices, the Vortec-powered Chevy Workhorse chassis also gets better gas mileage.

But it's the passenger-friendly amenities such as its roomy cab, independent front suspension, large anti-lock front disc brakes, easy-to-spot fluid fills and sharp turning radius that puts the "recreation"¯ into driving and riding in this chassis. Add other touches, like the step-on front bumper to aid windshield cleaning, or an engine oil monitor to indicate when an oil change is needed, and RVers will understand why the company that calls itself "customer-driven"¯ puts its name on this chassis.

Specializing in the manufacture of chassis for motor homes, walk-in trucks and buses, as well as integrated walk-in trucks, Workhorse Custom Chassis is ISO 9001 certified and considered a leader in the motor home and walk-in truck industries.
