05 Fleetwood Expedition

My wife and I finally had enough of the toy hauler and traveling with the little ones in the truck on long trips. We found this DP and fell in love with it. Previous owner took great care it.

We are just coming up on the 1st anniversary of selling our beloved '05 Excursion, our very first rig.

It was a great rv, made many special memories. Get a brown laundry marker for the "junk drawer" to cover the edges of the vinyl-clad woodwork framing, and you're good to go.

Really, the interiors are gorgeous, tastefully done. Why they slipped when it came to that one item, none of us will ever know.

We put a new set of Koni's on ours, hung new tires on the steering axle (a must, for safety), lubed everything underneath, put new nylon bushings on the anti-sway bar and tightened every bolt we could find. Simple, cheap, and made our 100,000 mile chassis ride, in the words of the guy who took it on trade, "like a showroom-new bus!"

In many ways, we enjoyed the Fleetwood more than our present iconic Beaver.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

What a fine looking rig. That's a huge upgrade over a toy hauler. Congrats!

DW and I really loved our 03 Excursion. We also made some chassis modifications that contributed to a greater ride. IMHO, Koni shocks, check both front and rear alignment, also added a Supersteer, bell crank from Henderson's Drive Line, check their web site. John Henderson is a wealth of knowledge! Note: these modifications were not that expensive for the results!

@ Clay. What is the super steer and what does it help with?

Also Thank you for all the welcomes to the site. Seems to be a wealth of information here. Cant wait to start planning our summer vacation with the kids.

We love it! This is our second bunkhouse coach. The first was a gas Coachmen (also a 2013) that served as our introduction into RVing... but it didn't last a full ar with us. After an 18day summer trip on it, we knew then and there that we wanted to upgrade to a DP and began looking. Friends that we frequently camp with have the Berk 390 bunkhouse which is also a fine coach, and we were looking into one of those pretty seriously.

Then we found the Discovery 40G, and we haven't looked back. We love the floor plan, quality, finish, all of the nice features, over/under WD, residential fridge... really everything about it with only one minor exception.

One feature that we LOVE is the fact that Fleetwood put the kitchen on the driver's side of the coach (the "business" side) so that the couch and dinette would be on the "fun" side of the coach. We much prefer to look out that dinette window and see our picnic table and our outdoor area, versus in our Coachmen (and many others) where we had to look at our neighbors and our sewer hose! Never could understand that logic.

So this is really cool... but the down side is that there aren't as many windows on the kitchen side so we get less natural light than that Berkshire (and other) models. Partly it's due to the layout, but it's also that the full residential fridge, microwave/convection oven and the nicely sized kitchen storage cabinets occupy space that could have been a window. I wouldn't change it a bit though. We don't sit in the coach during the day much--we are outside enjoying wherever we are.

The only feature that I would change in my particular unit is the LP oven. I would be happy to switch that out and have a dishwasher instead. We are a family of 4, I have a Camp Chef pizza oven that I set up outside and use for baking, so the dishwasher would be more treasured than the oven. We would NEVER use the oven during the long Texas summers, though I may use it for winter camping now and then.
