'17 Phaeton 40AH...almost done

It's in Belmont AL getting painted now.

It was fascinating to watch the build! Really competent folks working there, everyone focused on getting it right. I was surprised at how much touch up/rework goes on, but they just keep at it continuously, always making it better/cleaner.

It was really worth the time and money to go down and watch the first week of the build, particularly since I've never owned an RV before. I've got a zillion photos of all the subsystems, wires, pipes, braces, tanks etc. so when I need to mount something or troubleshooting something, I'll at least stand a fighting chance.

I actually worked from inside the coach a couple of times, ran meetings with desktop sharing using Verizon wireless and Netgear mifi, even though the coach was inside the metal building!

Ship date is supposed to be 9/14, I'll head over to Wausau, WI to pick it up at the dealer and get some more goodies installed (Hughes autoformer, towbar, Wifi Ranger and a 12db gain cell phone antenna) and then head over to Springfield, OR to get solar panels installed.

I was just kinda looking at it as a place to live (full-timing) but watching the folks in Red Bay putting it together has me pretty excited about it now. It's not just stamped out/slapped together, there is some serious craftsmanship going into it.

Though I have to say, I still can't believe it doesn't have inside release/locking fuel doors! Every car I've had since '88 has had those! Ah well, at least it gives me something to bitch about, my head would explode if I didn't have *something* I could complain about!
