2012 Newmar Canyon Star Toy Hauler

Retired the '97 Damon Daybreak & cargo trailer, and started looking for a Class A toy hauler to replace it.

The used Class A toy haulers don't stay on the market long, it seems. The DW said no to the Outlaw with the 3' high bedroom over the garage, and irv2 had good things to say about Newmar, so:

Canyon Star 3920

We also just picked up our new Canyon Star 3920 this last Friday. We ordered ours the beginning of February. Your choice of color is impeccable!! (same as ours) We had Newmar replace the dinette with their desk/dinette table combo and did not get the beds in the garage but added additional cabinets. DW opted for a window over the sink so I then opted for the HD A/V wiring. Sounded like a fair trade to me!

We also are quite pleased with our choice. Fit and finish appear very good and both our dealer, Steinbring, and Newmar were receptive to all our questions and changes.

We spent both Saturday and Sunday putting everything from our old coach into the new and tomorrow I will install a Winegard Travl'r and a TV in the outside compartment.

Our MX season begins in 2 weeks and we have a 2 week trip to Moab planned early June. After spending 2 days in the new coach, I am ready to hit the road now!!

Enjoy your Newmar!!!!

Congratulations!!!! It is pretty amazing that Newmar fits that bedroom in with only an add'l 2 feet in length over the OutLaw (39'05" Canyon Star vs. 37'04" Outlaw)!!

And the flat roof might be easier to deal with, but I've always hoped that the wedge shape of Outlaw was helpful for the MPG.

Hope you enjoy it!!!

Thanks. We compete in BBQ competitions so there is a lot of gear that goes in the back. You may have noticed we added e-track to the walls. Switching to a toy hauler eliminated the need for us to tow a cargo trailer, which is handy when trying to park in frequently tight spaces in a field someplace.

I love the look of the desk/dinette combo, but we decided keep the standard dinette because we get a lot of guests and it gives us another bed that way. (The queen bunks in the back, the sleep sofa, and bedroom give us four full queen beds plus the dinette - not bad for a class A that isn't a bunkhouse.)

Thank you. I think the trick is that it's the smallest bathroom of the Newmar floor plans, but it was easier to sell to the DW on that than the short bedroom. I did take a long look at the Outlaw, but the decison was made for me.

Hey 3920 Owners,

Wondering why the ramp on the Newmar has that angled top? Any ideas what is the purpose?

Also, is the garage floor flat - or is there a ramped section in the back by the ramp like on the Outlaw?

Finally, did I read correctly that the garage floor weight rating is 1,500 lb?

Compiling data for my Classs "A" Toyhauler thread:
Class "A" Toyhaulers
Thanks

Hmmm, might have to follow you around and be your "official" taste tester in the competitions. It's the least I can do to help you improve your chances of winning competitions.
