Label us crazy. We bought an RV in this totally unpredictable, volatile economic environment. Maybe it's perverse, but I decided it would be better for us to spend the money on something we wanted rather than just let Mr. Market chew it to shreds!
Anyway, we are totally new to RV-ing, on the theory that you are more likely to regret the things you don't do than the ones you do. We figured we better give it a try before we got so old it was way beyond our capaicty.
So we found a 2003 American Eagle, 40 foot diesel pusher, from a small outit called Quality Motor Coach near Orlando, FL. This fellow has a nice selection of rigs in very good condition, mostly bank foreclosures. Somebody had obviously taken very good care of this unit and we are pleased to be her new owners.
Driving is a challenge, to be sure, but we are taking the Lazy Days course next week and hope it will indeed improve our confidence. Wife has been behind the wheel only once, with help from the dealer, so I have done all the driving in traffic so far and to this point no mishaps.
We look forward to learning to drive over the winter here in FL and then taking a leisurely drive back north next summer. We have already found this forum to be of immense help.
