Change of plans

Well, my wife and I plopped down a $5,000. deposits for a new Class A in September. We were told it would be built and delivered in 4 months. When you have that much to think about whether you are doing the right or wrong thing it lead to some sleepless nights. I just retired after 28 years and the question was do we want to go into a lot of debt at 62 years old. So we shifted gears and shopped for a more realistic rig that would meet our needs. There is a lot to be said about pre owned. We found a 2017 Chevy 3500 HD High Country and a 2011 garage kept, one owner, full body paint Cardinal 3425 5th wheel. All in we saved more then $70,000. From what we were going to pay for the Class A. We are so happy with our change of plans.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on finding the "right rig" for you. Sometimes people are not realistic and pay the price. Glad you thought it out.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share.

Enjoy the adventure!

I was once told the “return on rolling stock is not that good”. It was a great line. It is very meaningful.

Welcome to the group. Have fun out there.

Enjoy retirement and your new-to-you rig. Above all, be safe.

Everyone's situation is unique to them. Choose what is best for you, as you did.

Hope to meet you at a campground somewhere!

As far as trip plans go:
1. Lancaster Pa end of March
2. Beaufort SC mid April
3. Bar Harbor Maine May
4. Ocean City MD August
The first thing I’m learning is to book early. With the economy doing so well, everyone is traveling.

Ain't that the truth. Places are already close to booked up for this summer.

Very interested to know where you will be camping in Beaufort, S C. Is it Hunting Island State Park?

We are staying at the Point South KOA. But we do plan on checking out Hunting Island. That is on our to do list. We are going to Marine Corp Graduation at Paris Island.
