Finally!

After many years of dreaming, researching, hemming and hawing we finally did it and took delivery of our new TT on Saturday. Thanks to many of you on this site that helped us narrow down our floorplan. We got the right camper at the right price with the right options for us. Now we just need to find the right truck to pull it... :-)

Joe

PS Being a rookie, I put it away last night and didn't open the fridge. Oops.

Can't you pull it with the Excursion? I have a 2000 and it's the same as a 3/4 ton truck?

Hit the CAT scales and I'm a bit over 400# above my GVW of 9200#. I can move more weight to the trailer but not sure if it will be enough. The EX has lower ratings than an F250. Still towed fine. Worried more about liability.

Check the rear axle GVWr and see where you stand on that weight. Also check the tire ratings. You can also get a F350, 1 ton SRW axle and springs and fit it to the Ex.

Are you using a weight distributing hitch? Wish we had our 2000 EX back.

Yes. We are using an Equalizer WD hitch. I can move the bars and put more weight on the front. Not a bad idea about swapping axles. Not sure how legit that would be?

Thanks for all the kind words. We plan to use this as much as we can.

Joe

I agree with the others on the Excursion, I have a 2001 model and would not trade it for the world! Hopefully you can make it work for you. Great looking trailer.
