Oh we've got plans already. The girls are out of school on June 23 and we leave that day for Branson. We'll be there for a week. Then a month later we will head out to Boston for a week in New England. As if that isn't enough, we will head down to Houston in August to see my son, his wife, and their little guy. We haven't worked any plans out for the fall yet, but it's still early!

Thanks all for your kind comments. We are hoping to actually get delivery on Tuesday. We had the dealer take out the accordian day/night blinds and replace them with the roll-ease chain draw kind and there is a big delay on the delivery of the blinds.

Tomorrow at 3 we take possession and let them have our Itasca. It will be fun to get in and actually drive this thing.

Gene, I checked out your rig. WOW! Gorgeous! Your own design? She is a beauty that's for sure.

2011 models out already? Wow. Our '05 is getting gray whiskers fast.
Just curious. How did you come about deciding on a Berkshire?
BTW, it's beautiful.

Our Berkshire is the first 2011 that our dealer got. They just started making them a few weeks ago. The difference from the 2010? There are none that I can see. We did luck out and got a 2011 on a 2009 chassis to avoid the emissions requirements and additional costs of a 2010 chassis.

The Berkshire became our rig of choice after a lot of shopping around. We looked at the Damon, Winnebago, Itasca, Tiffin, and Berkshire. We narrowed it down to the Tiffin and the Berkshire. The Tiffin dealer in our area is impossible to work with, but I had found a dealer in NC that seemed like a good fit. The Berkshire dealer is Buffalo RV, part of the RVOne and RVDirect group, and they are just a few miles from our house. We liked both units, but the Berkshire has some added features that really sold us. Double pane windows, wide storage doors, generator on a front slide out, and more. The Tiffin was a little bit nicer inside with its cabinets but it did have one major drawback. With the slides in the Tiffin was very, very narrow in the hall. Add to that issue was the fact that the Tiffin uses wood folding doors on the bunks. This further narrows the hall and gives the bunks an almost coffin like feel. The Berkshire was just a much better unit for our purposes. On top of that the Tiffin dealer changed his deal and wanted an extra $20,000 for a trade. That made our decision very easy.

Years ago I would have put the Berkshire on more of an entry level bunk diesel level. Now I would have to say they are closer to the top. Add to it the really great service we have gotten from Buffalo RV and the fact that the dealer has just been a pleasure to deal with and very accomodating in every respect and they saved us a ton of $$$. Unless we end up with some major issues with this rig down the road, I would have to say that anyone who is looking at diesel for a reasonable price should check out the Berkshire and Buffalo RV.

Thom, here is the link for the floor plan. The bunks are just about the biggest out there.
