First RV

After much searching and thinking about various models, my husband and I purchased our first RV, which is a 2013 Jayco Greyhawk 31FK with 3000 miles. It feels almost brand new. We are so excited and look forward to learning all about RV travel from irv2.

We live in a neighborhood in which RVs cannot be kept over 24 hours, however our neighbors asked us to put lights on for a few weeks, so we did (see picture). No one has complained about this so far, but plan to move it to our rental storage area after Christmas.

Now all this knowledge from irv2 can be put to use as soon as spring arrives. Can't wait.

First RV

Beautiful rig you have there! Congratulations. The lights are a nice touch. You must also have some nice neighbors. Lots of places now where there are restrictions on parking your rig in front of your hose.

You've come to the right place for learning more about your rig...and RV'g in general.

Travel safely

hmmm...you guys have more self control than we do. When we first got ours we slept in it a time or two right in the driveway. We live in the country so no city rules like you guys have.....ours stays parked along side the house at all times. My kids "camp" in it on a regular basis on the weekends. It's off limits for a few weeks right now though because Santa has it loaded with their Christmas presents.

I have to laugh about your self control comment especially because we have no self control, just joy. Actually the neighbors come over and we have been having a blast in it. Last weekend we brought our dogs into the RV for the first time and all five of us laid on the bed and had our favorite beverage (humans that is). The water has been winterized, so we probably will not spend the night until the spring. Maybe a nap though?

We took delivery of our first RV in the winter too, but in a Texas winter. We bought from Motor Home Specialists near Dallas, TX, and we picked it up the day after Christmas several years ago. At the time, temps were below freezing at night, and barely above during the day--and we weren't prepared for that. Two members of the family got the flu, so we had to drive all over town trying to find Tamaflu, and it was all used up at so many urgent care places that we visited. To top it off, our youngest daughter fell out of the top bunk in the middle of the night, cut her lip on her teeth, and fractured her shoulder! I feared that the family would HATE the RV from that weekend on, but thankfully that never happened. We laugh about it now, but it wasn't a fun first RV trip!
