Gasser to FRED

Picked-up our new to us FRED last Thursday and headed to Penn State for homecoming weekend and had a blast! We traded our 2003 32R Windsport for a 2008 36 Foot Gulf Stream Independence Front End Diesel. THe motor home was gently used and looks basically new inside and out. THe dry camping experience was great ...1500 plus RV's there this weekend and the game was the best! Can't wait until this coming weekend ... Halloween Weekend with the grandson.

Congrats on the new coach. My daughter (gradate from Penn State) asked us to go, but it sounds a little crazy. Are people respectful to the RV's?

Not only respectful but overly friendly. It's nothing like a campground! Everyone and I mean everyone... even the opposing team supporters are inviting, helpful and generous. I would highly recommend giving it a try..I can almost guarantee that you will have a great time. If you don't have tickets it's not a problem as there are plenty of people streaming the game on huge flat screens at the RV lot. FYI...it's one big party so don't expect peace and quiet.

You must have been in the same row as us. The pig was across from us and and about 4 MH down towards the entrance road! Maybe you would know me from walking my little dog Molly the Yorki-poo. She is very popular with the RV'ers.

I did this once at the Rose Bowl. Friendly is an understatement! I was 19 and driving the class A there the day before (for my dad) to get a good spot. People would knock on the door to invite me to dinner because they knew I was alone. Had a great time, too! (no booze, but chocolate chip cookies at midnight!)

RV parking PSU

Just took delivery Friday evening of Newmar Ventana LE 3845 DP... trolling craigslist for RV parking passes for the Nebraska game. Can't bear the thought of putting her away until spring yet. Any thoughts on making the game one of my first tries at camping in it?

Get there as early as you can... the main lot fills up fast. As soon as you pull in get out your slides immediately if not sooner. It is recommended that your have a generator exhaust extension. My husband fabricated his own out of PVC pipe for a fraction of cost of purchasing one from a dealer. Don't expect a nice and quiet weekend but do expect that everyone will be overly friendly and accomodating. You can not imagine some of the set-ups! Have a great time...I hope you like to walk!

Oh one more thing....if you are parking on the Overnight RV (ORV) lot you do not need a parking pass. You pay as you enter the gate.
