While I have been a member her for a while, my wife, Lori and I just our dream dog house!

After getting the run around and extremely poor and rude treatment from a large RV dealer Sales Manager here in Oregon, we found a small family owned dealership in Salem, OR that had exactly what we wanted at a price that we were all happy with. That and the smaller dealer was very customer oriented. As such it was a pleasure doing business with them.

We take delivery of our 40 foot DP this Thursday and we plan on taking 4 days off that week and putting her through her paces. I have not been this excited over any purchase (past RVs) since I was 10!!! Wife is excited too!

The link in my signature shows some pictures, although they were kind of rushed and I will replace them with better ones later.

I have half a mind to drive the extra hour south to the other dealer and invite the Sales Manager and General Manager out to see the sale and income they blew off!

In case you are wondering what happened, at the beginning of the negotiation, I was asked where I got my sale price information from. I showed the Salesman the information available on the web from other dealers w/price and asked if they could match it. After the Salesman dutifully reported my request, I hear from down the hall "Where the **** (*** describes the hot place you go if your bad when you kick the bucket),does he expect to get it serviced?" He then entered the room and I straight out told him - "Wherever I chose to get it serviced!" Like the Sales Manager has ANY control of what the Service folks do or who they will give good or poor service to. Yes! I do have half a mind to rub salt into his wound.

Congradulations on your new coach. I know the dealer in Salem you are purchasing through (only HR dealer in Salem) and they are a top quality operation.
I am going to Beaverton today to look at a used MH the wife and I really like. I'm hoping the dealership we are going to (Olinger) is not the one you got attitude from. So far they have been very helpful and understanding and I have read a lot of good reviews concerning them.

wish us luck

Paul.

Olinger was not the dealer that gave me the "attitude".

If the used one you are looking at is an 01 Diplomat - it's a nice rig. I seriously considered that one. Looks like it has been well maintained and water tight. Needs new tires and awnings though.

They actually have 2 sites, Hillsboro, where I am at and Troutdale (east side of Portland). The Troutdale store is where they have most of their motor homes.

Thanks for getting back so quick. We are going to the Hillsboro store. They have a 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Advantage 36C we will be looking deeper into. We did a quick look and test drive earlier in the month but now we are going in to take a hard look.
Thanks again.

Hi y'all -

Welcome to irv2

We're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them. Enjoy the forums and post often, and when you want to be a official member of the Monaco Owner's forum (and not just a new member of irv2) let me know.

Sorry to hear about your initial experiences, here's hoping they remain a thing of the past.

Ron

Gordon, congrats on your new rig and welcome to IRV2.

I had a friend who decided he wanted to buy 3 motorcycles...once each for himself, his wife and his son. He was treated rudely by the local HD dealership and walked out. He promptly went to another dealer and bought 3 new Yamaha V-Star Classics. He could easily afford the HD's but was not married to any brand.

He put the three new Yamaha's on a trailer and drove back to the HD dealer to show the sales manager.

An intersting side bar to this discussion is the sales folks trying to get one to believe that if you don't buy it there you can't get it servied there...I've found this ploy at a number of dealers...of course when you talk to the service manager (a differnt profit center of the dealer of course) they are more than happy to service the coach - not quite as fast as a local sales customer but in relativly short order.

Having said that and from personal experience, I do know that it some parts of the country at certain times of the year - it doesn't matter where you bought the coach they can't get you in for weeks, even if you have Monaco going to bat for oyu.

Wally
