New to us '86 Winnebago Chieftain 22 Undergoes renovations!
This thing was in such good shape for its age and for the price we couldn't pass it up. I am including some pics of what it looked like when we purchased it. I will include pics of the during and after renovations over the next couple months! :-)
We knew right off that we would need new mattresses as the previous owner threw out the original ones as they had decintigrated. Since then we've learned some good, some bad and some of it is what it is...

We have been working on some wiring issues and have been making a lot of progress!
I have also tore down some of the ummm outdated wallpaper and have found some mild water damage that has caused some mold. We are letting it dry then will paint it with mold/mildew killer and recaulk all the windows and paint all the walls. I will be painting the walls white and cabinets a dark brown. Then I will be working on fabrics and curtains.
We are hoping to have her done and on the road by late summer.
More pics will come very soon!

Great find!!! If you wait long enough, that upholstery fabric will come back in style!
Keep us updated and pictures too along the way.
Safe travels in your future!

So, just about all the bubbled wallpaper is gone. Have applied mold/mildew killer to any suspicious areas. We went to home depot and bought a primer that is also a bonder to help give a more uniform paint appearance. We are going to apply that on everything that will receive paint. We are using exterior paint at the suggestion of the employee at HD. We also found the silver stuff for the roof there.
I found the fabric paint and the teal fleece at Joann fabrics.
We are Planning to tackle some of the painting today and this weekend.
Pretty happy. Only have about $150 in supplies so far. We still need new solonoids (proving to be difficult to find), Mattresses (found the overhead one on ebay for $130 but its solid foam. We are going to the Original Mattress Factory and having them make us the 3/4 innerspring mattress for the back. It will be about $400 but much more supportive!), Sheets (ebay!), Batteries, and as many organizational items as I can get my hands on.
I still think we'll be under $1000 for all that it needed/needs.
The first below pic is a before and after of the window boxes. (Still need to paint the wood piece dark brown to match the cabinets.)
The second pic is the new cabinet pulls I found as the old ones were just too dated and the metal was flaking. I got 18 pulls for under $35 even after shipping. We wanted satin nickel to accent the cabinets because they will be dark brown.

So, we have learned that our fridge is toast... I was wondering why it stunk so badly of ammonia. :-( any ideas? Buying new looks like it's gonna run us about $1000 (I've only looked online ao far). And I have no idea of any local repair shops. Google hasn't been able to find anything.
