My inlaws seem to be on a path to spend every cent they have and have nothing left when they pass. I say go for it. They worked hard and deserved to enjoy every bit of it.

We plan to do the same. The kids understand

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

We have an annuity that we can draw 5% of in each year and never touch the principal. Now we need to figure out what to do with it since I sure don't want my son to get it!! It'll be gone in a year or less. He doesn't have a drug or booze problem, just can't hang on to money! We found out after my parents died that they had given him over $250,000 and he still had to declare bankruptcy and, until BOA got nailed by the gov't, was about to loose his house again.

When my parents bought their Airstream Excell 500 TT, then Foretravel motorhome I figured they earned it. I never figured on an inheritance, but it would have been nice to at least have enough left to bury them with! Due to my son that didn't happen.

Moral of the story? Not sure!!! But, you earned it so spend it like you want!!

Congrats on the great looking 5er. Hey, you have to enjoy your life before they get it. They will have to understand.
