Well, we did it! Just purchased this 2007 Dutchmen Dorado - too good of a deal to pass up. This is our first RV but seems to have everything we could want and more. External storage space is limited but there's only two of us so it shouldn't be an issue. Taking delivery next week and have already armed myself with lots of knowledge from this site (PDI and Road Test checklists, etc). Still trying to figure out where to go for a short shakedown cruise from North Jersey but there is no shortage of options. Thanks to everyone on the forum for all of the great information, advice and guidance. It has been a Godsend and helped calm the butterflies. We can't wait to get out there and meet some of you!

North Jersey ! Where? We are in Warren county.

A place that is open year round (water turned off now) is Mahlon Dickerson Reservation.

Let us know if you need anything and all the best with the new motorhome.

Now's the time to drive it south for the winter. You wouldn't want your "new baby" to get cold would you.

That's a beautiful place. Congratulation and best of luck with it.

Are you planning on trying to get out yet this season? Some places in our area (2 hour radius) are open year round because it's either dry camping or the have heated water lines.

If you do go out and plan on pulling in water you might want to consider getting or making a heated water hose. I ignored that at first and it took a whole afternoon to thaw out the water line.

If you're staying close I'll second the Mahlon Dickerson reservation. Nice paved lots although you'll need to bring leveling pads as some sites seem to slope a bit.
