We still can't believe that it is sitting in our driveway. This is our second RV, having traded a 2008 Roadtrek 210 Class B for the 2011 Born Free 22' RSK.

We made the decision and began the ordering process on May 18, 2011. We picked up the unit on July 27, 2011 after a very long (because of anticipation) 9 week build process.

I can't say enough about Born Free as a company, or a coach. I realize that we will have problems, but I am very content that we've selected a quality company to do business with. Many aren't familiar with Born Free. They are a very small, privately owned company in Iowa, about 2 hours north of Des Moines. They make 6 different RV's (all Class C's less than 27') as well as commercial vehicles (mobile command centers, etc.). From our research, they are considered one of the factory-direct, top tier class C manufacturers comparable to Lazy Daze, Triple E and Phoenix Cruiser. I think that group sits a tier below Coach House and Dynamax in my opinion.

Born Free makes ~100+ RV's a year is all. Each one can be ordered to your liking from a basic floor plan template. Even things like a cab-over or not can be customized! We were able to outfit this thing exactly like we wanted. What a great experience. Our maiden voyage begins on Thursday!

Here are some pictures:

We met Mr Dodgen the owner of Born Free, about 16 years ago in upstate New York as he used to lead caravans of Born Free owners to various areas of North America. He was on his way to Ottawa and then on to Montreal so we were able to pass on some easier routes through Montreal to him. He used to pull a large open trailer with a smoker rotisserie bar b cue and a large deep freeze on the trailer. The night we saw him he was cooking a series of pork roasts to provide some meals to the members of the caravan. Before he left the next morning he brought us over a whole roast to thank us for the info we provided him.
Its a great company that produces a very high end unit.

WOW! What a neat package! Looks like a bunch of quality and features packed into a tidy, aerodynamic package (the tire shine is a nice touch too)!!!

Can't wait for photos from your shake-down cruise. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks really great!!! You just gave me a little RV envy. We have a 39 ft. fifth wheel and when I look at your Bornfree I'm so impressed with the looks and see an RV that will not be a hassel to drive on any street. We wish you joy and happyness as you start making many new memories in the new RV.

That is purdy!!!

Great photos too. Good luck!

I would have bot one and not a TC, but I need 4 x 4 and high ground clearance. Also did not want a dually.

Wife may buy a Aluma Lite C if she comes into some $$. Then again, she may not? ...I still got my TC anyway.

The factory is located in Humboldt, IA about 2 hours north of Des Moines. The factory website Class C RV ratings, reviews - recreational vehicles at Born Free Motorcoach always has a list of a few used units when owners trade on new ones. They only take their own in on trade. You can also find a few used ones on the typical online sites but there are very few.

They can build on the Ford diesel version of the E350 and E450 chassis and they just pass on the Ford cost difference. That was about $8000 last time I was told. With only a couple mpg improvement, the payback didn't make sense to me. They do not build on the Sprinter diesel chassis at this time, I would guess due to weight issues.
