Smile Our new to us "used" Newmar Essex

I am new to this forum and purchased an '04 rig which is new to us so I thought I would share. I am not fully retiring until sometime between Aug '10 and May '11 but when RVs hit rock bottom back in April '09, we jumped the gun and purchased the one we are going to use in retirement.

We were looking at several used luxury coaches when we saw the coach we wanted at a price $100,000 under current market value, so we grabbed it. We named our coach THE WINDSWEPT PEARL which is the name Newmar called the paint scheme. We purchased a 2004 Newmar Essex 4503. The coach is 45 ft long, has 4 slides, and is powered by a Cummins ISM 500 HP engine and an Allison 6 speed auto trans.

This coach is much more beautiful in person than pictures can ever do it justice. We have plans for several upgrades such as 600 to 800 watt solar system, datastorm internet, basement tv, basement fridge/freezer, and a hydra-lift system. While I am still working, I am putting the money together to pay for all of the extras before we hit the road on our full-time adventure.

We did a lot of research on coaches with the help of numerous current RVers before we made our choice and purchase. It is a bit larger than what we originally were looking for since we had focused in on 35 to 40 ft, but when the deal presented itself, we thought "Oh well, what is an extra 5 ft anyhow." I know it may limit us from some of the older parks, but with so many rv parks to choose from, we thought it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

We have been going to RV shows for over 15 years now and never get tired of looking at all of the beautiful rigs we get to see. Thank you for letting us share our new '04 rig with you.

beaverjim; I like your Monaco. That was one of the 5 makes we were looking at when we stubbled upon the Essex we purchased. I bet you're really enjoying your coach.

69RoadRunner; Thanks for the invite to the Newmar section of this website. I am finding a wealth of information there. I would love to go for a ride in your '69 RoadRunner. When I was in high school I owned a '70 Dodge Charger and my best friend owned a '68 Dodge SuperBee. I sure miss those days.

BounderFreddy; Thanks for the RV comments. I sure bet you are enjoying your 2007 Fleetwood Bounder.

Thanks to all of you and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Great looking coach. Newmar is the best!! We, like you, were not looking for a coach over 40', but when we found our 43 footer and the floor plan we knew. After 4 years ands 42K plus miles no regrets. Keep us updated.

Pauland Ro; Thank you very much! We hope you are enjoying your Fleetwood Bounder as well. We sure see a lot of them on the road each and every week.

Spikester; Thank you very much! We hope you are enjoying your new 2008 Newmar as well. We wish we could have purchased a brand new Essex, but we couldn't see cutting lose with over $500,000 of our retirement nest egg so we looked for "like new" with low mileage.

Ronnie Bledsoe; Thanks for helping us feel good about the larger size coach. If you are still happy with your 43 ft coach after 4 years, I think we will be OK with the 45 footer.

snickers; Thank you very much for the kind comments and the good wishes. We are sure you love your new Dutch Star! We wish the same for you!!!

historyljc; Thank you very much for your kind comments and good wishes. We are sure you love your Tiffin! We wish the same for you!!!

leedowney; Thank you very much! Doubt if she would fit at a football parking lot, but I like the thought of doing it.

TexasPenny; Thank you very much! We love her looks too. We hope to get many years of use out of this one. Can't wait to start full-time traveling! We hope to see you at a rally someday and I am sure we will.
