Passing the torch: My new MH was 007's before me

Over the course of the spring I've been in contact with our very own 007 about purchasing his 2003 Newmar Kountry Star Class A. I was on contract in Milwaukee (I'm a travel nurse) and was supposed to fly out to pick it up in late April, but for various reasons that didn't work out. Finally, on June 4, I was able to fly out to the East Coast to pick up the rig and drive it back to MI.

First of all, I have to say that if you've never had the pleasure of meeting 007 and his lovely wife, you're missing out. They are gracious, kind, and just all-around wonderful folks. They picked me up at the airport and I stayed in the rig overnight at their house. They fed me, were great company, and 007 gave me a tutorial on RVing that lasted almost nine hours over the course of two days. Great man, great teacher.

I'd driven rental trucks and a school bus decades ago, but had never driven an RV. 007 gave me a freeway lesson, and off I went! I'll post a thread about my trip from New England, through Canada to Michigan in another spot.

We're now safe in northern MI, my new rig and I, and I am so incredibly happy. I have the summer to get her checked over and ready to head out to the PNW in the fall. I'll be full-timing in her nine months out of the year. 007 kept her in great shape but she hadn't been really used/driven for several years. No matter how meticulous he was, there are a few things that need tweaking, which we both knew.

Even more enormous thanks to 007 for including everything, and I mean everything, with the coach. Electrical cords with every plug and adapter imaginable. Sewer and macerator hoses. 12V portable fan, vacuum, every piece of paper related to the rig. The bathrooms were stocked with soap, lotion, and toilet paper. They gave me a bag full of towels and washcloths! Paper towels, some sweet mementos, and a Workhorse ball cap and jacket were also parting gifts. The coach was immaculate inside and out, and immediately felt like home.

Enough typing, I'll post this then attach some pics and (re)introduce you to my 2003 Newmar Kountry Star gas Class A!

Exterior. At a friend's house, and at the Arrowhead RV campground in Upstate New York.

Congrats, based on what 007 has contributed in his posts and all the advice he has given others including myself, in looking for a MH as well as repairing one, I'm not surprised at how happy you are and what great shape your new MH is in. Good luck and have many safe and happy travels.

Congratulations on your new to you coach. I am a relative newbie to the forum. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting 007 but am truly in awe of his devotion to those on this forum and his knowledge of all things RV. That said, it is a given that you've acquired a well loved coach. I hope that it brings to you many years of happy memories!

Are you sure that's an '03? She looks brand spanking new. You've purchased a very nice coach and one that has received a lot of love and made a lot of memories.

Congrats!

Isn't she beautiful!? The folks at the campground where I stopped on my trip couldn't believe she's twelve years old! A testament to the great care she's received.

Congrats, it's a great looking coach. Hope you have many happy miles ahead. We sure enjoy ours.
You mentioned Midway in GR. That's where we purchased our coach. Great people to work with. Hope they treat you the same. For chassis related issues there is Cummins Bridgeway located on Clay street in GR. Give them a call and see if they can help with any other related issues you may have or want checked over. I know they're a Diesel shop but the one here in our location of the state has always taken care of any chassis problems for us. A call wouldn't hurt as long as you have the coach in GR.
How's Pleva's meats doing in Cedar, MI???? LOL The wife is from TC and I lived there 10 years. Anyway have a great time and keep us posted on your travels. Be Safe!

That's super nice of 007. Having to run out and purchase all that stuff just to get going is just another expense. Too bad 007 isn't in the business of selling these things in this kind of shape all the time!!!

You reminded me of the total excitement I had when first picking mine up and making that first trip. Thanks and good luck in the future with your ride!!! Very nice!
