Ugly Betty

I didn't name her, but that's her name until I come up with something better. The work done so far was to get her titled, insured, and on the road. I've replaced the water pump, fan clutch, fan, and fan belt because I blew the water pump in the first 250 miles. I've blown one of my duals, and after that experience I'm planning on replacing all the rubber, and getting a spare and a heavy floor jack.

Internals where salvaged from my other campers until I have the money to do it the way I want it done.

She does have a wheelchair lift, and enough room for a small street bike (if I can find one in my price range) and my generator. I put in a tv and game system in place of the front seat, with room for some of my tools under the tv. Clothes and toilet store under the isle edge of the bunk, with hunting and fishing gear on the wall side. She might not be a dream machine, but she's paid for, and does the job for me.

I'll add pics as I get some of the work done. They'll be slow coming though.

I've always got some sort of project going on. Thinking that it might have been cheaper in the long run to buy a class A, but the price on this was low enough I couldn't pass it up. I'd like to find a cummins 5.9 12 valve. I've got someone that can beef that up and drop in her for a nice improvement over the 5.7 vortec in both torque and fuel economy.

It is bad luck to change a ships name. That is definitely a land yacht. Besides as mco65 put it " it's kinda sexy"

I'm probably going to stick with Ugly Betty. Might see if my daughter can do Betty Boop playing patty cake with Jessica Rabbit on the hood once I get to finishing the paint.

She is going to be part man cave, part work van in addition to RV. I'm trying to simplify my life, and get rid of all the "junk" I have that I don't need.

not to rain on your betty, but if you plan to go to Az. with her you will have to paint her.

28-902. Repainting government vehicle

If a motor vehicle that is painted yellow and that is owned or operated by this state, a county, city, town or political subdivision of this state, a school district or a school is sold or transferred to a private owner, the private owner shall repaint the motor vehicle a different color and obliterate all official painted insignia before the motor vehicle is driven on a public highway.

The catch to that would be that she was never owned in AZ, and it would go by the state she is titled in.
I had changed it up some, then got pulled over by a Minnesota school bus inspector who informed me that all the "High gloss yellow" had to be changed. I have since changed it to a flat sand in tribute to my time in Iraq, and have since decided to strip it completely and go with a gloss white to help with the "solar heating".

Great find! Many possibilities...
Is there room for black, gray and fresh water tanks?

I like "Ugly Betty", and I think she should always be named that even after her paint job. When that happens.

Love the idea of starting from scratch, and building what you want. Ohhhhhhhhh the possibilities.

I drove for the company that owned her, they sold to the school, and she went to another company. Dad drives for that company, and bought it for $200 less than the company I drove for wanted to sell it to me for. I had a series of unfortunate events, and needed it, so I paid dad what he paid for it, and I've done all the work on it since. It's been an expensive 2 months.

I'm not sure on the waste tanks. I put in a 10g (I think) tank that I pulled from an old pickup camper for fresh water as part of the titling requirements. The sink drains into a 5g bucket, though it doesn't get used. The toilet is a portable out of the same pu camper. I have a TT that I'm going to disassemble, I'll have to see if the tanks will mount underneath. Would be nice to have a larger water supply.
