We did it!

Our first RV, just placed the deposit. Delivery is scheduled for Oct 11 and I cannot wait. We've been planning for this for a couple years now and the time is finally here. Kids are out, my business is doing great and I can work from anywhere. We've also had some recent reminders that life is short and if we're going to do it, we should do it now.

Now all the work pays off. Cars will be sold, house prepped to rent, we'll pick up something toad-appropriate, and we'll see you on the road in November!

I could talk forever. We started out looking at 5th wheels but after looking at a lot of them, and finally seeing some Tiffin and Newmar class As, a DP started to make a lot more sense. Then it was new vs used, how old did we want to go, how big, all those questions. Size wise, I really wanted to stay 40' or less, and if used then only a few years old.

We also were very picky on floorplans. It's just me, my wife and a dog. The kids are out and I have no desire to host family gatherings - that's for houses. So a floorplan that works well for a full time couple who still needs to work, was a priority. That means we don't need the supercouches, prefer a sitting arrangement that is straight-on to the TV, and has some way we can adapt a desk for two. Unicorn? Maybe, but we kept looking.

The key breakthrough was seeing a modified coach where they had pulled the dinette and replaced it with essentially a bigger dinette that had knee holes instead of cabinets/drawers. That was a perfect two person desk, and it opened up the possibilities.

This Ventana is a 3709 and fits the need in every way. Nice couch directly across from a fireplace/tv unit (wife really wanted a fireplace), and that also has a large countertop extension for the kitchen (wife also a fantastic cook). The dinette is perfectly placed for a desk, so we'll be making an appointment to have that modification done...somewhere. Still have to pick a vendor there. It's a little more than we wanted to spend, but the perfect floorplan, new-coach warranty, and a price that worked, meant it was time to take the plunge.

Beautiful !

If you can get the manual and start studying it you will be way ahead when the walk through comes.

No but we went to NIRV three weeks ago and they had a solitary Ventana on the lot that was pretty close to this one, a 43' model. It was enough to tell us a Ventana was definitely in the running, but I wanted to stay under 40'. We had been seriously looking at Dutch Stars, but that Ventana got us thinking. We found this one at Independence RV in Winter Garden FL, right around the corner from my brother-in-law's place. On the trip down, we'll be picking up my mom to go with us, and staying with the BIL for a night. Delivery day will be a big family affair!

It's a 3709, and optioned out nicely. All the paperwork is finally done and it's officially ours, delivery is less than two weeks out. I'll post some pictures then too. I leave for San Francisco this Sunday on a business trip, back the following Saturday. Then Sunday we drive down to Orlando and stay with the BIL for a couple nights, and delivery begins at 9am Tuesday.
