SCAM ALERT, PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE IS A SCAM! USAA (A good Company) pushes you to a horrible company named Progressive. I had a driver playing with their cell phone (and most likely drunk) slam into my motorhome going at least 50 MPH while the motorhome was legally parked and not in operation. That trip cost me over $13,000 because Progressive just simply refused to pay.

USAA/Progressive
All of our insurance has been with USAA, so I included our motorhome when we purchased it a few years ago. It took a while, but talking to other rvers I realized my premiums were quite high. I contacted Good Sam and obtained a policy with greater coverage at about a $500 annual saving.

On way to significantly reduce your premium is to increase the deductible to $5k. Can cut the premium by 30-50%. With disappearing deductibles, after a few years you’re back to no deductible.

Cool. That's a garbage policy, but it's a fine baseline.
Then I change a single option, Totaled Vehicle Options from 'No Coverage' to 'Total Loss Replacement/Purchase Price' and I go from $558/year to $9,984/year. That seems...bananas.
Meanwhile, their 'Choice' policy with way more coverage than the above is actually $400 cheaper than the $9,984 cost for the above with total loss coverage: - Liability (Bodily Injury & Property Damage): $50k/person, $100k/accident $25k/property
- Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury & Property Damage: $50k/person, $100k/accident, $25k/property
- Income Loss Benefit: No Coverage
- Medical Expense Benefits: $1,000/person
- Full-Timer's Package (provides "homeowner-like" coverages when you use your RV as a permanent residence): $1000k/person, $300k/accident
- Trailer: 0-$2.5k/accident
- Totaled Vehicle Options: Total Loss Replacement/Purchase Price
- Other than Collision: $1k deductible
- Collision: $1k deductible
- Disappearing Deductibles: Yes
- Rental/Transportation Expense: $600/occurance
- Trip Interruption: $750
- Towing and Labor Costs: Yes
- Replacement Cost Personal Effects: $3k
I think I'm going to call them. It seems like there's a something wrong with the website.
Also, has anyone compared Progressive through FMCA vs Progressive through USAA? Both are supposed to provide discounts but I don't have FMCA, though I'd get it if the discount were better than USAA's.

$10 K is ridiculous. Call around. The liability is extremely cheap for campsite coverage. It is easily overlooked. The replacement endorsement is usually good only for new MH. After almost 40 years in insurance bus take my advice.

Gave similar policy for much less
I also have progressive through USAA. I insure a 2018 Dutch Star 4018 since purchased new. Have full replacement value comprehensive and collision with 500 deductible. I pay about 300.00 per month. The full replacement value option is only available for 24 months so will expat premium reduction in Oct. Hope this comparison helps.

I too left Progressive when they doubled the premium
I also have USAA for most of my insurance. I was pushed to Progressive for my Motor Home when I bought my first one. Initially Progressive was great.
When I got my newer MH, I again stayed with Progressive and the rates seemed reasonable (higher than I would like, but it was worth it to me to have it all under one "umbrella").
The last few years, after retiring we started full-timing....no problem. Rate went up, but I expected that. Then, two years ago I saw a 20% increase with no change in coverage, behavior or claims. The next year the rate doubled! Obviously they wanted me to leave.
I called and spoke with a very nice agent and she was so sad that it happened and was sorry I was leaving, but could do nothing about the increase, nor explain why the premium doubled from the year before. I moved to Farmer's who used a sub to quote...rate was less than I ever paid Progressive for equal to better coverage.
Progressive was great while I had them, but I just couldn't afford them towards the end. Now I have a place to go if USAA gets tricky and refuses to renew one of my policies if I don't bring the other one "home".

We are AARP members, use The Hartford for our fulltimer coach & towed coverage. Was the cheapest option for our Florida domicile last time I shopped a few months ago. We have been happy with their claims processing over 3yrs.

There has to be more to this. I don't see how an insurance company can simply "refuse to pay". What did your state insurance regulator office have to say about it?

You need to take this to arbitration, which is part of your settlement options. You must have a difficult adjuster to deal with, so you have to be difficult as well and push back hard.
I also have been part of the claims business for many years and learned early on that what one adjuster offers is not the final settlement IF you push back hard. Always be pleasant though. It's a negotiation.

staying with National General via Good Sam Agency. Rate increase was about 15% for an annual policy. That is not bad for Texas which has a terrible lenient pro company Insurance Commission.

Looks like it’s the total replacement coverage that is really cranking up the rate.

How much did your rv cost? That has a large affect on the price.

Geico Gecko
Speaking of insurance companies..
The Geico Gecko was was filming a commercial for Geico's World Famous Biscuits and Gravy in his brand new Newmar DP. As he was standing next to the driver's seat he slipped and accidentally knocked it out of gear, it rolled down the hill and crashed.
Afterwards, he stood back up, brushed himself off and said " Oops, pardon me! Must be A Reptile Dysfunction!"
