14 days till Florida

Hi all, I leave for Florida in 2 weeks, Winnie is ready , I think, new Michelins, full of fuel, oil is fresh.. This is my 1st major trip with my new to me 2002 Journey, have taken several short range trips. I will be towing a 12' tandem axle trailer (new) with my motorcycles on board.
I will be leaving from southern Saskatchewan, Canada.
Sure would appreciate any pointers, I will be traveling alone, wife flies to meet me in Miami near the end of the month.
Was thinking a CB may be worthwhile, adding a backup camera to trailer or to monitor.
Thanks folks and a happy holiday season.

At about 50 miles on the trailer, stop and check torque on wheels. Aluminum should be 110 ft lbs and steel is 90 ft lbs. At the same time check the temperature of the axle spindles.
Also make certain the tire pressures are all good on the motorhome and trailer. Good luck and have fun.

Campgrounds are pretty full last time I checked. I hope you have a place to camp. If not, post back, as I may know a few places for smaller setups, but not near Miami. I am located not far from the Tampa area. Tuesday, I was in one of the basic campgrounds up near Brooksville and there were a few places for smaller trailers or MH's. These are first come, first serve and the best shot at one is early in the week about 10 AM until 2:00 PM. Exact change for pay envelopes is required (I think $25 per night). I saw water and electric, an older bath house with a shower, but no dump station that I could see.

It seems like everyone has come to Florida early this year.

We're planning to get a taste of it next Fall. (We'll be there in Nov). Does Nov qualify as the "shoulder season"? I am a TT zone pass member and plan to do 14 days in each of the TT Orlando area parks with 7 days out just roaming, so about a month in the state before heading back to MN to start my tax season around Dec 5. (Have never camped in Fla before). Have a great trip!

I recommend a TPMS if you do not already have one to monitor the coach and trailer tires.
Safe travel.

The weather can change so dramatically, I'd make sure to watch the weather A LOT. With the cold, a great number of the campgrounds will be closed or will have limited utilities (sewer and water will be tough). I'd make sure your basement heat is working sufficient to keep the plumbing thawed. Tire pressure will change dramatically from cold to warm weather - an onboard air compressor would be handy - service with air along the way is at best spotty.

I'd take a look at Allstays.com for free places to park - like Walmarts, Carbela's, Cracker Barrels, Camping World, etc. I'd make sure the generator is good shape also.

Finally, enjoy the ride - it is a beautiful country (even frozen as it is).

I have Forest River 2011 Georgtown that I Love (she has been great to us) We generally leave mid Jan. I take 1 day to get to the KOA in SD they 50 amp - water- and dump. From there the weather gets better and the roads better.
