2,218 miles with no incidents...until last two miles!

Over the course of the last two weeks we traveled from PA to Orlando and back with no incidents until two miles from our residence! We both rode out and chased snow and ice and had no issues with heat or freezing tanks. We had an absolutely glorious time. And then...exactly two miles from home the microwave door opened and the glass tray crashed to the floor! If that is the worst thing to happen in two weeks we couldn't be happier except for the fact we now have to clear 20 inches of snow off of our triple wide driveway to park the motorhome!

Glad you had a good trip, with the exception for the last 2 miles. Most accidents happen within 5 miles of home. That is why we sold the house and left. No problems for the last 11+ years (tongue in cheek).

You do know that safety experts say that most vehicle accidents happen within 10 miles of where you're going.

Agreed...thank goodness it was a very, very minor incident. I have been following the posts of the travelers who were caught in the eye of the storm and wishing them a safe journey. We were very lucky to get ahead of the storm on our way down and behind the storm on our way back. As far as the microwave incident... I am blaming it on the PA potholes. We are happy to be home...well kind of sort of! For those travelers that are traveling 95 and need to make a overnight stop in Georgia I highly recommend the Coastal Georgia RV Resort 1.5 miles off of Route 95. Spotlessly clean, padded pull through sites. Perfect place to dewinterize and they even allow you to wash your RV. I wold highly recommend making reservations. We pulled in at 5 pm and got the second to last site. Coastal GA RV Resort - Welcome Home

LOVE IT! Gonna keep that one for my own personal use.

EDIT...on second thought...maybe that means we are always within 5 miles of home? OH NO!

That's why our check list has a "Remove Micro Turntable" item.

I guess we will have to change our procedures. This is our 3rd MH and this is the first time this ever happened to us.

Yes Sky Boss you are right, uh oh! what was I thinking. More than once I have been fueling the rig, standing by the pump. A complete stranger sees the license plate from a couple thousand miles away. They say, "you are a long way from home!". I reply, "Nope, about three feet."

According to statistics most accidents happen within 25 miles from home.
