2016 Norcold 4 dr Frig Where is Coldest Part of Freezer

Have a 12 cuft norcold in a 2016 mh. Been on a trip for several months but always seems the ice cream doesn't stay frozen. Usually it is in the front of comparment. Freezer real full everything seems solid ( frozen). Guess one option would be to eat all the ice cream instead of storing. LOL

So is the back wall the coldest? Or the floor of the freezer? Ice maker makes ice and it stays frozen. What do you do? Thanks

Ice cream doesn't freeze at 32 like water, and the better brands (higher butterfat content) may need temps below 10 to stay frozen. Our Dometic shows 0 degrees but due to having an auto defrost that runs each day the ice cream is never brick hard.
Since heat rises I would be keeping it in the lower back of the freezer.

Brian is correct. An absorption refrigerator like the RV has doesn't have the cooling capability of going low enough in temperature to freeze your ice cream very hard. Most will not go much lower than 20°.

My Norcold goes to about 10f. I have a wireless thermometer in it. Coldest part is in the back.

The big issue with these freezers and fridges is folks leave the door open too long while freezer/fridge surfing. My buddies always do it on trips with me.

The back wall of the freezer and refrigerator compartment is the coldest. Nature of the beast with the ice cream [emoji509]
