230v wiring question

I'm thinkin about purchasing a new 230v/1 phase/22 amp compressor for my home shop. It doesn't come with a power cord or plug. We are planning to buy a 4 prong 50 amp male RV type plug so as to build a power cord so we can plug this compressor into our 50amp mh 4 prong female wall plug. Is this possible? If so, how? Wire size? etc.
Thanks
Don

Use a 220 volt dryer plug and receptacle. Wire it into your box on both sides. If you use a 10 g wire, 2 hots, one common and one ground you can use the receptacle for a welder etc.
