30 amp to 50 amp

Our 5th wheel is a 50 amp but we only have one a/c. With that being said is there anything that we can’t use on 30 amp hookup

...just do the math you only have 30 amps total to use on 30 amp service, your one AC will take about half of that ...where as you have 100amps total on 50 amp service......

AC, microwave and coffee pot at same time. As mentioned add up your loads and keep under 30 amps.

Thanks. I just made reservations at a c/g and they charged me an extra 4 bucks for the 50 amp. And it got me to thinking about it.

We have had many 30 amp rv's and have never had a issue running everything we need. Maybe we just have been lucky?

As stated with 30 amp you have to manage your load needs.
With our 30 amp class c we can run ac and microwave, or ac and hwh (when on electric), and a few small draw items. But if we're running ac and hwh, and wife starts toaster oven or turns a hair dryer on, or starts microwave, it will trip circuit breaker.
50 amp and you could probably run everything.
Wish we did have a 50 amp setup, but alas, not available on most class c rigs.

With my 50amp coach running on a 30 amp service , I can run any 2 of the "high amp" items as follows : A/C unit1 , toaster, microwave, blow dryer, kettle , A/C unit2 along with the TV, computer and other small loads including the converter and fridge. My hot water is propane only.

I will always opt for a 50 amp site. I don't have to monitor electrical usage and it makes it more relaxing during the stay. I can always get by on 30 amp if needed though.

About time the parks started charging extra for the 50 amp service instead of making the 30 amp and 20 amp folks pay for the high power usage of the larger coaches. It will bring the cost down for more energy efficient coaches.

They should charge by the length of the RV too. Marinas charge by the foot, big boat big fee.
