Seen 40 ft. spartan chassis with Cat C9 engine 350HP with Allison 6sp. tran., air ride, alum. wheels, engine brake, zero miles. Seen in trader magazine for 16,000. Would this be good deal to buy and have coach installed?

I would want to know the year and if it would pass the new emmision's test that would be required once the unit was ready to be registered.

To Blaster;

I own a 2002 newmar, Mountain Aire diesel pusher on a 40' Spartan chassis. It was ,I think, about $8,000.00 more than the Frieghtliner and do date I don't regret the choice.

In May,2005, we went out to the factory in Charlotte, Mich., to have some warranty work done and have them install a 200 amp alternator.

After watching them build them and work on mine, I'll get another Spartan.

My chassis is a Mountain Master GT

Hope this info helps.. Thanks====

To; Blaster;;

The msrp for my Spartan was close to $100,00.00.

I found this out because I am working to try to get Massachusetts to apply excise tax to chassis only, not entire rv kike it is now.

The hang-up now is to get RV manufactures to put msrp of chassis in NADA books and on window stickers.

Thanks again===== AJBJRVERS

Blaster, I would agree with RV Wizard about the C9 being able to comply with current emissions laws, and the price seems very low to me, are you sure the price is correct and not a misprint. Ed.S

That would be a cool idea I guess, but how do you get the chassis from where it is to where the coach would be built on it? (Truck of course, but that freight adds to the price)
Warpath had a pretty nice RV built on a truck chassis and I'll bet those folks could do it.

Reckon you would save any money?

Going to call tomorrow! Have friends that had coach put on truck chassis,will call see who built it. In East Ky I don't think they care about emissions. Just thought price was right! Will call about chassis tomorrow to.

I agree, the price is very low. The engine alone would be worth much more than that. Of course it all depends on the condition and how it got to be only a chassis. Was it a full rig before? Burned down? Why so cheap?

Blaster, I think your in for a big surprise as far as cost. From my experience, RV Manufacture have to have each coach model certified. Taking a raw chassis, as you desire and then ask a coach manufacture to finish it, the cost may be over whelming. There is a difference between a Class C and a Class A chassis and what is envolved in certifying it.

I think the chassis is a left over, either from an out of date production unit or from a manufacture that went out of business. In either case, a raw Class A chassis will require special attention by an experienced builder.

Icalled about chassis, owner said was right price and was new. Did not get mod, but was said to be for fleetwood. No rust been in storage in barn. From what I can find out cost is more than want to mess with. It is in ohio if anyone is wants to check it out.
