50 amp power cords

50 amp, 4 prong power cords are difficult to connect, disconnect both into/out of extension cord, and power pedestal.

My question to all is, what can I use to lubricate the prongs before plugging in? WD 40? Or, ??????.

If there is any corrosion, clean with steel wool (with power off).

Don't use WD40. WD, when it drys up, turns gummy and will do nothing but attract dirt.

Spray some on a hard surface, let it sit, and see what happens

When it dries the gummy film is an insulator, one of it's uses is to dry spark plug wires and insulate them from shorting to ground or cross-firing.
When wet the film is flammable though. Don't ask how I know_.
One of the best things I did was buy a 50A shore power cord with a handle on the male plug.

I use No-Ox (NO-OX-ID 8 Oz Tube of A Special Grease Compound) rom Amazon on all outside electrical connections. It has been used telcoms for years. Other products will also help.

For those that don't know, dielectric grease is an insulator so don't go too heavy with the coating.

Dialectric grease does not conduct electricity so should not be used on pins or any conductors. Not even a thin coat.
Google it.

Pins and prongs should fit tight to freely transfer electricity. Loose or interupted current flow causes heat which is a dangerous thing. A tight 50 amp plug is a good thing and safer Sorry.

Well, now I'm a bit confused.

You are saying that I can't use anything to ease the disconnect struggle, just deal with it as it?

Ok. Thanks. I will get some and give it a go. Guess in the worst case, I just clean it all off and start over.
