Of all the 50% discount camping clubs, which one is the best deal.

I have used Passport America for several years and always save a good deal more on discounted CG sites than the cost of the membership. If you do opt to become a member of a discount club the only way it is worth its cost is if you use it. I average using PassportAmerica discount CGs approximately 20 or more times per year and just that number gives me a great deal of savings. Sometimes even get to use it when the CG is our destination and we stay several days at one park. Its all in whether you use your membership.

Passport America gets a nod from a lot of people.But why limit yourself to one membership? PA had "blackout" periods and a second membership might be helpful. They are generally less than $50 so 3 nights stay saves the pricetag. When I hit the road in earnest in June for at least a year I will have Good Sam, Escapees (free) PA and Happy Camper cards and of course, my seniors card. When I hit the US for the winter I'll see what is available such as Thousand Trails. A friend who travelled for a year figures he saved $4,000 that year by using discount clubs and planned his stays around these parks. As he said" WHen you haven't visited someplace how do you know which park you use?" Might as well pick a discount than not.

We had Passport and Camp Club...now that they've merged, who else offers 50%?

Wish Good Sam would boost their discount to something more than 10%. With the price of fuel, it's not worth driving a little out of the way to get their discount and have found it's sometimes cheaper to stay at a CG closer on our route. That may change now that we plan to use CGs more as destinations as opposed to stopovers. Bob

Especially if you're using them from point to point as one or two day stopovers. Wish I had kept track of all the PA CGs we've stayed in...I'd wager we've saved 10 times the cost of membership. The only better deal is the 'Senior Pass', with all the National Parks we've visited. Bargain city...the both of them.
