98 Discovery 36T water heater

The water heater in my 98 Discovery 36T is leaking. From the closet I can see the plumbing and can verify that is not where it is leaking.
I am planning to replace the entire unit and noticed it is riveted to the side of the coach. Has anyone with a 98 or maybe 99 36T replaced their water heater diy? If yes, are there pitfalls and traps to be aware? What size are the rivets? Can they be replaced with screws?

Thanks
Chuck

I've replaced about a dozen W/H of both major brands and different RV manufacturers and never seen one riveted in place .

Any chance you could post a picture ?

I ordered a new unit yesterday. Looking at some pictures of the new unit and referring to some youtube videos for installation, I believe the rivets are just to hold the tabs in place. It seems, from pics and videos, there are tabs that are bent out during the install. There are then corner braces installed for maybe support. The unit is actually screwed in place from inside the box. You can see these screws in the pictures I have attached.
Once I receive the new unit, I will start demo part of the original unit. I will learn more then but I was trying to gather as much information as possible prior to the demo.
If you see or know of anything that I should be aware of or watch for, I would appreciate any input.
Thanks for your assistance

When you get the new unit you'll know more about the rivets , from the pictures I'd say the 8 screws are the retainers for the unit to the wall .

You'll need about 8' of grey 3/4" wide sealant tape to seal the flange to the wall, and don't be alarmed if you find there is some water damage visible once the old heater is out.
If you don't have any water damage to deal with , the replacement is a 2>3 hour job , remember to turn off the propane and shore power if you're hooked up .
