'99 DutchStar, DP. Thoughts on roof maintenance?

We have a '99 DutchStar purchased a little over a year ago. What are your thoughts and recommendations for roof maintenance, treatments, etc?? We feel we should do something to treat but not sure what! We heard of something called Roof Armour but it's pricy, $4,000.00 +- thanks

What kind of roof do you have?

I had a Class C with a rubber roof, I would clean with spic and span and then use armour all to protect.

I now have a Class A with a fiberglass. For 5 years I had washed it but nothing to protect. This last year I took the time to really clean it. I used a heavy bristle brush and a combination of Awesome, Tide, and Soft Scrub and then in the really tough spots used a small pressure washer. It came out bright white. I then put 2 coats of Zep high traffic floor wax. After 6 months I washed it again, very easy to get clean. I then applied another coat of Zep.

Pretty sure you would have a BriteTEK Rubber Roof. Washing with a mild soap and give it a coat of Aerospace 303 at least once per year is all that needed.

BriteTek is NOT a "rubber" roof. It is a TPO or plastic. Used on lots of buildings with no maintenance and lasts 20 years or more in that use.
If you want to do anything to it wash it and spray with 303.
We had the BriteTek on our 2002 DSDP and that's all I ever did to it, other than checking the sealant around the openings

I have a 2000 Dutch Star, and I clean my roof twice a year. I found a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser mop and some dishwashing liquid is all I need to keep it looking good. I will admit I'm thinking seriously of getting one of the spray on roofs. With one of those you NEVER have to caulk again, and they offer a lifetime warranty against any leak. Roof Armour quoted me a price of $120 a linear foot. But I'm leaning toward LineX since they offer the same warranty, and will honor it anywhere in the country. And it comes in colors to match the coach. I want the roof white, but where it comes over the sides, I want that to match the color of my coach.

Interesting info, thanks for all the tips! Say Ramets, I'm curious about the Line-X now! There's a dealer close to us so we may check it out. May I ask why you're leaning toward that? Maybe that's what we're looking for. We know how important the roof is and we want to be sure it's protected!

Oops... What I meant to ask is what you heard on price and do you know if the warranty is transferable?

Don't know about warranty being transferable, but thinking it would be. Since Roof Armor quoted me $120 a linear foot, that's what I want from LineX. I had LineX in my pickups for years, and it held up to everything I could throw at it, and stayed looking good. I've only seen one coach with it and I was impressed. The guy even had the front done in a color that matched his paint job. No more bug problems, just brush them off, and he didn't worry about dings. You can do a google search to find a LineX place near you.

Here is a Owners Guide for maintenance of your coach.
Here is a thread in the Newmar forum being discussed about roof maintenance.
Below in my signature are links to many others for maintenance of your Newmar.
Post your question's in the Newmar forum may make it easier for you.
I would check with Newmar as to adding coatings on your existing roof and if it might cause problems with the existing roof.

Oh that's excellent advice, I'll do that! And also call Newmar. They are great to speak with, don't know why I didn't think of that! Thanks 😊
