Question A & E 9100 awning does not extend completely

We have an A & E 9100 series awning and it does not extend all the way. It is about 1/8 of a turn from fully extending completely. Water simply stands on the awning when it rains and it bounces with just a slight breeze.

Is there an adjustment that can be made to make it roll out just a little further? My thoughts about the bounce is either with the arms not fully extended that it is not fully locked into full out position. Possibly a bad strut?

A few posabilities... but first, when you have it pulled out do you lean on the arm to tighten the canvas and reach up and tighten the knob so it can't roll back up a little? If you do that already then it's possible that the spring has so much preload on it, that it simply can't be tightened any more, preventing the canvas from rolling out completely OR one of the springs is broken and preventing the canvas from rolling out completely.

ps to stop the flapping there are several flap stoppers.. check the new one that Camping World is now selling... simpler to install and way cheaper then the one I have.

Check for any obstructions, like a twig, mud dobber, etc., where the arms fold. Any obstruction will cause it to not extend, or in some cases retract, properly.

A & E awning

Thank you so much for your responses.

This is an electric awning without the automatic wind retract.

We have checked for any obstructions and it is clean. This has been a condition since it was new. Any other ideas?

Thanks again

Get a 9000 manual one. It has side to side height adjustments.
Tilt it to one side and have no water standing.
