I bought the Valterra EZ coupling sewer kit when I got my RV and have been less than pleased with it. The hose is way too flexible, unable to span more than a few inches on the hose support with sagging between the two sections.

I'm not sure if I need to replace the hose or find a better support system. I saw a three section solid 9' ramp at the RV supply, but that looks like it would have its own set of limitations, not the least of which its suppose to be hung by a small chain.

I also find that the Valterra elbow that connects to the dump hole is so tall that it creates a high spot that the waste has to climb to empty. There has got to be a better way to do this inelegant job.

None are perfect but I have used Rhino Flex for ten years now. The hoses are rugged and the connectors are well made.

Look into "The Sewer Solution" sold on the net Those that have it, won't use anything else !

A more elegant way would be to use the Sewer Solution and eliminate the stinky slinky altogether.

When we started RV'ing back in 2001 we bought a sewer hose by SmoothBore. Although I have never seen anyone but us using one, I Googled it and found that it is still available. It is completely smooth on the inside so not poop gets hung on the ridges.

Most folks probably wouldn't like it because it is not the "accordion" type. I roll mine up in a roll that's about 18" in diameter secured with a bungee and put it in a large garbage bag for storage in the RV. It's still working great after 12 years of camping!

I use a combo of the Rhino or Ramble type hose with a ramp. Tossed the chain long ago and use the standard sewer supports ...ripped apart into pieces w/4 or legs per piece. I don't lie the hose on the ground as dragging on concrete/gravel can damage it (will destroy the cheap ones very quickly), AND mostly because my primary source of hose damage is weed eaters run by park grounds people. With the ramp/gutter under it that damage is very in likely to happen. I prefer the Valtera screw in fittings (much less costly than Rhino) to all others I have tried. The "lift" into the dump exists only in some campgrounds depending on their setup, and often allows me to create a trap with the hose so that I can leave the gray valve open with odor and bugs blocked from coming into the holding tank.

Lots of folks spend way too much time with the stinky slinky trying to get it pitched and perfectly flat. Truth is you are much better off with a trap in the drain hose. It keeps any unwanted sewer gasses from traveling back up the hose and into the RV tank.

As for sewer solution and macerator type drainage systems, they are slow and will not allow you to make a fast dump to help sweep the solids out of the black tank.

I carry a Sanicon electric unit to use on the rare occasion that I have to pump the sewage up a bit to get rid of it.

I hate to get behind some one at the dump station using a Sanicon or like system as it takes them 3 times a long to dump and then they want to flush the tank.

To use the The Sewer Solution? Do you have to have a Pressure Water Source?

Sewer Hose Systems | Drain Master Is what I use YES it is expensive but it works awesome. Nice and clean and odor free.

I hook up my Rhino Flex and dump on an "as needed" basis. It's fast, it's quick and the hose doesn't stay out there for the gardner, the sun, or anything else to kill Mr. Slinky. When I am on the road, I still dump every third or fourth day. By that time everything is liquid and no chance of any tank build up.
In Arizona they have deemed that you can not lay your sewer hose on their precious earth. so doing it my way eliminates the fear and horror of getting gigged by the poop patrol.

I use Rhino hoses too. I use rain gutters and downspout connectors to keep the hose off the ground. I have two 10 ft. gutters that I cut to make 2-four ft. and 2-six ft. sections. They can be combined to cover almost any situation. I have eight downspout adapers that are cut at various lengths to get the height right for down flow.

Yup, that's the support system that speaks to me. Home Depot here I come.

I'll just stick with the Valterra slinky I've got if the support system corrects the problem. I wouldn't buy it again, or recommend it, but I've spent the money and can live with it. If I every have to replace it ill certainly look seriously at the Rhino.
