The previous owner of my MH applied solar-blocking film inside every window except the windshield. I love that it moderates the glare and temperature inside the rig, and I'm not interested in removing it. Once it was installed, though, I don't believe it was ever cleaned. I've tried everything I can think of - plain water, vinegar diluted with water, Windex (BIG mistake), mild dishwashing liquid. Nothing removes the gunk that has accumulated. It simply moves it around and smears it. I've Googled it, and have gotten recommendations for all those things I've just mentioned. Anyone else had this problem? If so, what's the answer? It sounds like you've tried everything! I was going to recommend a cleaner for tinted windows that keeps the tint from drying out, but that won't help you. It may sound funny, but try some WD40 on one of the windows. It won't hurt the tint, but it is good for removing goo. It's often used to remove decals and lettering from the exterior of te vehicle.

X2 on the WD 40. Could it possibly be something built up between the tint film & the window? Maybe the window wasn't sufficiently cleaned before apply the tint.

You might try talking to a window tint or glass shop in your area for some advice.

If you have double pane windows, special tint must be used. Do you know if the correct tint is on them?

I agree that a special tint is needed. I had mine done with it and didn't have any issues. I do know that any window cleaner that contains ammonia is not recommended.

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I will try WD40 per your recommendations and will update the result here, in case any of you have a similar situation in the future. The problem isn't between the film and the glass. It's inside. I can scrape the goo with my thumbnail. Yuck!

What are you using to sop up the goo once the cleaner/detergent is applied? Since it is greasy goo, you need something super-absorbent or it just gets spread around after the detergent softens it. Microfiber cloths usually work well, or maybe those paper or cloth shop towels designed to pick up grease in auto repair shops.

I found this product works wonders. There is nothing like a clean window. I clean before we leave I clean when we get there.
Repeat everywhere.

Its called,
Sprayway
World's Best Glass Cleaner
Ammonia Free
And its streak-less.
Spray Foam
I use those Microfiber cloths, to wipe off (several)
Both sides of the windows.
Sold @ Home Depot. This is so far the only place I know that Carrie's it.
3 can's for around $15.00

I agree on the WD40. I've used it to remove the decal the dealer puts on your brand new cars paint.

Thanks, Gary. I use microfiber cloths for just about everything. I did try paper towels but microfiber works better. Husband tried WD40 last evening after a couple of folks recommended it. It works like a champ. Takes time and patience, but what the heck, we're retired, so time is not an issue.

Tim...Thanks for the input. Husband tried WD40 and it does the job. Looks like that's our best bet. With microfiber cloths and WD40, I think we're all set.

You may have to remove the film and replace.

When I had the windows on a car tinted I ask about how they cleaned the glass before applying film... He told me they had a "Kick A$$" glass cleaner and showed me a can... I took him out to the car and showed him another.
