A Really Bad Shortcut

Ouch.

This guy decided that he just had to make a U Turn with his 40DP over the center divide.

Maybe I am missing something, I have never seen a major roadway with double yellow lines unless it's a roadway without a center divider, in other words a two lane road. I would bet he ran off the road.

That's the first divided highway I ever saw with a double yellow line separating two lanes going the same direction. The caption and picture do not fit together, I don't think a u-turn was involved. That MH appears to have been pulling out of a drive onto a narrow 2-lane highway and misjudged the culvert width.

Very observant, makes sense to me.

The link is toCity Of Rocks National Reserve and stated "We don't recommend this shortcut"

Looks like the driver forgot where his rear wheels would go and started the right turn too soon.

the comments indicate that the stuck rig left a bitter taste in the mouths of other reserve visitors.

Maybe it's a frontage road with a no passing zone.

It is obvious from the website that they built at least 2 sites for large motorhomes. One says it will accommodate a vehicle length of 51'. Another is 41', most are only 14', those without a length are tent sites only.
Why build those 2 long-length sites if the roads are not built for large/long-length vehicles? I can see where the MH owner would assume the roads are there to get to those sites-and get back out.

It is also obvious from the maps there is not a 4-lane highway within 40+ miles of the park.

Looks like it was cut short by turning the steering wheel as soon as the tires hit the black top rather than going past the center line before starting the turn. Just a guess on my part since I was not there but I've done many a recovery of this same type of situation.

That scares the heck out of me after just traversing "this road" in a 45 foot coach towing a toad... Love Arkansas roads... BTW, the resort was worth the 20 minutes of "OMG" moments...
