It is generally accepted that the abbreviation for air conditioner is "A/C", while the abbreviation for alternating current is "AC". and direct current is "DC", not "D/C".
I see a lot of mis-use of these abbreviations and thought this reminder might help!

In most cases, if your AC goes out so does your A/C.
