Ac Unit not working
While putting batteries back into coach after winter storage and crossing terminals positive to negative the air conditioning stopped working. The thermostat controls wont light up.
On a second time crossing the batteries the refrigerator panel wont turn back on. So refrigerator doesnt work.
Thinking blown fuses?? Have checked all of the breakers and all of the fuses in the motorhome. Are there any hidden areas for fuses??
Thank you so much!!

How about the converter protection fuses? 30 or 40 AMP. they are large in size!

That may not be good. Some things don't like reversed polarity. Motors ok, but some electronics like control boards, no. Sorry I can help for this.

If you have the inverter/charger out, what is keeping your batteries charged ?
There may be a 2 or 5 amp fuse right on the fridge circuit board that failed.
The thermostat may be powered by the heater circuit, so you could look for a fuse there too.

We charge them with a charger when they get low. Pain, but it’s what we have to do for now. Just received the new converter yesterday. Still need to hook it up. That was a mess too, blew up our tv and oven. We will look into the other fuses and post what we find. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Reversing polarity doesn't make any difference on some things, but on others it can cause severe damage. Other than checking fuses I don't know what to suggest.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We will just have to keep looking. Our inverter converter has been out for 3 years now. We also had our rv in storage which is something we never do and thats when things started getting worse. Thank you so much for the warm welcome!! 🤗

The refrigerator only has a circuit board no switches or anything. We will check the unit itself. Thank you all.

I'm with those who suggest that you have blown control boards rather than a hidden fuse.

The refrigerator was fixed with a strong magnet and the ac was a blown fuse!
