None of us know enough details to critique this event except that it appears none of the occupants was wearing seat belts per the report. I'm not trying to start the seat belt issue as a debate point.
What I am saying is that we all should remember to ensure our tires are cared for properly including correctly aired up. We should all review proper actions to be taken after a blow out that warn us to avoid the initial reaction to apply brakes.

This is true, we taught this driving technique for blowouts, for years.. The key for this to work properly is your speed. You must leave yourself adequate throttle,speed or power to pull the vehicle in a straight forward position. Something else to remember if you ever run your rig off the roadway, do not try and pull your vehicle back onto the roadway. Come to a steady slower speed, or even stop. Check for traffic, pull back onto the road.

We might also remind ourselves that RVs are not really designed to travel at 75 mph ... especially not on summer heated blacktop. I have no idea how fast they were going but it's getting harder to maintain a reasonable speed when everyone else is on your bumper.

Thanks for the info. Old dogs do learn new tricks. Been driving for just over 50 years now and I had not hear of this method of handling blowouts.

The police report stated no safety device with all 3 people. Im not sure what exactly that means but I have to wonder if that means no one had on their seat belts.
