And that is why anytime I have an idiot coming around me, I start slowing down because I figure he will do something stupid...especially close to an intersection or an exit. So far, this has saved us from several accidents .....

This summer I have had 3-4 incidents where I was nearly clipped on my front corner with people cutting me off. Totally unbelievable !!!!

I have come to check my sideview mirror a lot more this season for drivers coming up fast to try their hand at stunt driving.....and 1/2 the time talking on their cell.....

I too would be interested in what your camera choice is. I have thought of getting a GoPro Hero camera or a tube style motorcycle camera since a trucker threw something at me as he passed.

I think many of our members would be interested.....................I am.
Yes, I'll be glad to, but give me a day or so. I'm busy with another project right now, but will post details and a link to some pics.

If you are putting a claim in to your insurance company for the bumper and other components that were damaged I would be including a new hitch in the repair. The insurance company is not likely going to give you a hard time about replacing in due to the collision. If they won't replace it then have them pay for the inspection or sign off that it is safe. They won't want the liability in case something were to happen down the road.

I don't think the hitch was damaged, I have visually checked everything several times, and don't see any signs of movement either. I'll have to check the torque, good advice. The trailer hitch look fine as well.

No one received a ticket, he said vehicle 1 hit vehicle 2, and vehicle 2 hit vehicle 3.

The lady said she was in the wrong, but not in front of him, and not to her insurance.
Doesn't that just scald you; someone causes thousands of dollars damage and walks away.
Same thing happened to me; my insurance rate went up $400.00

If you don't have a witness, it didn't happen. And then, the insurance company is only going to go by the police report.

New to MH'ing, but now RVing. Had a 33' TH. I'm also interested in a camera.

It really irks me that people think that just because you're slow off the line, you are going to be slow coming up on their rear bumper when they cut you off. Note to self: Move air horn from truck to MH.

My opinion is the Reese hitch is stronger than the head box of the fiver. I would be checking for telltale signs of damage to walls, sides, slideout openings, tank hold downs etc.

I hope we all drive defensively, but there are few options when someone stops short in front of you like that. Glad you and yours were not hurt.
I nearly rear-ended a semi-trailer some years ago passing through MO; he pulled in front of me (I44) just as we crested a slight hill. On the other side of the hill traffic was stopped (medivac chopper was there) due to a car crash, the semi made a panic stop-smoking the trailer wheels. I slammed on my brakes, pushed as hard as I could, and did stop about 2-3' from the semi-trailer. I was sure glad I had a change of underwear in the 5er_. There is practically nothing one can do the negate such a situation.

I guess it's like a helmet as well, just replace it. Just hate to think a low speed sudden stop can cause so much damage, but the weight and forces involved are great.

Thanks guys.
