We have a large awning. I worry about the awning getting torn up by a high wind so we close our awning if it starts to get windy, if we are going to be away from the fiver for awhile, and always before bedtime. I dont want an add a room to hassle with everytime we close the awning, so I dont intend to get one.

I sorta agree with Two Bit. Perhaps you would want to consider a separate free standing tent/room,

We purchased both the Patty-o-room and a free standing shelter. We use the free standing shelter a lot more than the Patty. The main difference is the free standing does not have bug screening. If it's buggy out, we spend the time and put up the Patty.

A sturdy free-standing screen room might be what you want. The E-Z UPcompany makes a good, sturdy awning. My frame is just gone thru it's 3rd summer (it tend to stay up most of the time) and has weathered several high wind situations. I use the spiral pet tie outs to anchor it (using bungie cords as shock lines). My 10X10 has a peak (like a gable roof) so I replaced our canopy cover (tore during end of 2nd summer) with a 10X12 heavy duty silver tarp. Can't do that on most but my fabric cover wasn't as heavy as the ones you order from the company because I got mine from Wal-Mart. We are impressed by how well the frame has held up and will replace with another direct from E-Z UP (I'm partial to the "Eclipse" with added screens and sidewalls). It's amazing how often the picnic table is just sitting too far from our camper (we use with the pop-up and I've never bought a replacement canopy for it after a storm destroyed the original). The handy thing is that we also sometimes use the freestanding canopy at a tailgate flea market.
