Thanks to all for your input. I Completed the task yesterday by installing a new fuel filter, fuel pump, new fuel lines and the fuel shut-off. Because the valve was going to be inside the gen set compartment and a little concerned and temperature and vibration, I opted to install and Oregon brand fuel valve manufactured from aluminum and brass. Was concerned about a plastics valve typically found on small engines. I still may come back and install a switch on the fuel pump and remove the shut off valve if their are signs of fuel leaking. In the timeframe I had, couldn't locate a switch that I was comfortable that would survive inside the genset compartment. I'm sure they are out there, just didn't have time to research further.
