Adjusting Red Koni rear shocks??

I have the red Koni rear shocks on the rear of my Jayco Seneca 34SS.
Today I tried to adjust up to a stiffer level as I had been told to do but did not feel the notches.
I removed the lower mount nut and collapsed the shock and turned clockwise but did not feel any notches or click feelings.
I did turn to the point that the shock did stop rotating so left it here.
I believe when the shocks were installed they were "supposed" to be placed in the center-medium position but have reason to think the adjustment was not done.
Can someone comment on their own experience of adjusting the shock position please?
