Advice please on wind
Hi. I’m new in an fifth wheel and am living in it. I have a 43’ fifth wheel and it 11,897 weight. I wonder is it safe to open the windows in. 21mph wind? Sitting in a yard with now wind break and getting hot broadside. No dust worries. Thanks.

No different then opening a window in a house.........
Open them up, let the wind blow threw ---feel the breeze
Stationary/parked 5th wheel not a whole lot different then a S&B house except for the wheels
Common sense....do what you would basically do at home (oh wait it IS your home) LOL

I seriously doubt your 43 foot 5th wheel weighs less than 12,000 pounds. My 40 foot 5th wheel tow hauler, empty, weighs over 16,000 pounds. Mine's been through 60 mph winds with no issue.

Nothing wrong with sitting still and opening windows. However, even though you say no dust worries I'll guarantee you'd get dirt inside if windows are wide open.
Do you have Fantastic fans? If so, crack a window or two on the shady side of RV. Close all others and lower shades on sunny side. You'll be amazed at the cool air coming through.

Hi Spookygirl, congrats on the 5th wheel. We are now living in our 43 foot Road Warrior toy hauler. We close on selling our house this coming Friday, so we will be houseless after that.
Open the windows, our are open right now. One issue you need to worry about in windy condition is the awning, do not put it out if it is windy or you can damage it. These things are expensive if you to replace one. We have a side patio on our unit and are sitting on it right now while I am typing this to you, and it is a little breezy here, not bad.
Any questions feel free to use the private message to reach us.

Thanks. It is usually too windy here in South Texas for the awnings. Living in this wasn’t my first choice but it was the best option. I moved to Texas to live with my daughter and her family when my husband was giving 6mos to a year to live. After he passed I was still living with my daughter, her husband and six kids. I needed out of their house. I’m still on their property . I doubt I will move the camper from sheers it is.
