Air Conditioner with roof vents open/closed
Going through a heat wave in Montana and single 13.5K is having trouble keeping up. I am not sure whether it is best to have the roof vents open or close. Part of me thinks it is still good to let the rising heat escape and part thinks everything closed is best while running the AC. For now, LR vent is closed and bathroom vent is open in the fiver.
Thoughts?

Right or wrong I seldom open a roof vent when an A/C is running, (especially in HOT weather).

Vents closed. The AC recirculates the air on it's own via the intake. Opening the roof vents can bring it the hot outside air at the same time the cooler inside air is escaping.

Exactly what happens. As you recirculate the inside air it will continually get cooler but not if you open vents and let new hot air inside. Keep them closed.

We keep the bathroom vent about one inch open here in Texas; that seems to be the best tradeoff between heat and ......
I think you really should have some air exchange or the interior, especially for liveaboard, gets to smelling like a musty old tavern even when no one's smoking or drinking.

True but I prefer to air it out at evening when cooler and shut down a/c.

Thanks, folks, I just closed the bath vent as it is 100 out and 80 inside.

We leave the BR vent open about an inch just so there is some small amount of fresh air coming in to the 5er. We also run the ceiling fan on low to help circulate it as well - though I'm not sure that's the best way

Kind of off topic but would a little table top fan help cool the area?

We'd love shade! Not much of it in Montana or now, Idaho.
We have a table top fan. DW thought the cats on our bed needed it more than we did in the living room. Guess I'll have to get one of the 12v fans out of front storage. LOL
