Alcohol

It just cracks me up. Every time the ten year rule comes up all these people say the camp ground has the right to make any rules they want. But suggest to those same people that the rule says no alcohol ..........they say they can't tell me what to do! People will support a rule as long it does not effect them. Rules are always for everyone else not me.

It is 6:20 PM. Right now there is lemonade in the mug. As soon as the lemonade is gone, maybe 10-15 minutes, I plan to put Bulleit Rye into it. I will be outside while I grill some meat, but I don't have any plans to get rowdy!

Regards.

Lori-
This /\ /\ /\ is the common sense approach. as a former L.E.O. I'll tal you i have run into people that have said we don't have any booze, just these empty cans / bottles. My answer was always.
There ARE two ways to posses alcohol. in ones hand and in ones Blood.

A blanket rule treating everyone as a potential problem is not a rule. It is a tool designed to be used to weed out obvious problem people. Even the government gets that.
Do you drive 55 in a 55 MPH zone? No one does. That's why it is never enforced unless you're driving erratically, or speeding well over the limit.
And the ten year rule and no alcohol rule are two different animals. I've never seen a private park with a "no alcohol" policy, and I've never seen a public park with a ten year rule. Apples and oranges.

What is my insulated stainless vacuum insulated $100 Yeti cup is no one's business, as long as I am not loud, obnoxious, or causing danger to others.... to myself is another story....
Most campgrounds have the No Alcohol rule. It just isn't enforced unless something gets out of hand.

I do know of 1 incident where a wine bottle was taken inside a pool area and was broken. The glass was cleaned up, no one injured, but the park manager asked the offender to leave the park. The offender elected not too because that was not the first bottle to be consumed that day. Police were called, both parties explained their side, and the offender was allowed to stay, otherwise, the campground would have to assume the responsibility of an intoxicated driver.
Moral to the story. Don't take glass into pool areas.....

I've only seen a "no alcohol" sigh once and that was in a campground on a native american reservation. What I drink in my own motorhome is no ones business as long as it is discreet and not abused. And kept INSIDE the motorhome, not wandering around outside with a can of beer. Same thing goes for firearms.

Alcohol Free Parks

We stayed in an Indian casino rv park once in New Mexico for one night. When we signed in, we were told no alcohol allowed in the park. Well, I had 3-4 beers inside my rv. When we were leaving the next morning, I went to throw out the trash, but I pulled the beer cans out because I didn't need the Indian spirits after me for the duration of the trip!

Usually at a COE park, the hosts will ask you to initial the back of the check in card which states the "No Alcohol" policy. Common sense prevails -- they don't want rude and loud people in the park disturbing others or destroying property. Adult beverages on your campsite in a non-alcoholic container are enjoyed by many -- don't walk around with a beer can in your hand or get DRUNK and LOUD. I have seen the policy enforced before as some campers started disturbing everyone around them with loud music and talking. If you draw the attention to yourself, be prepared to be bounced from the park -- and in this case all of the alcohol was poured out on the ground before they were escorted from the park accompanied with a large ticket and fine.

No guns allowed, either. Treat alcohol the same as you treat your guns; keep it inside and don't be seen in public with it.
I imagine the COE uses that as a way of keeping tailgate parties from getting too far out of hand, because there are a lot of COE CGs in the SE and close to college towns.

We too imbibe... at least one night around the fire... like previous folks have stated, as long as your quiet, and have a "concealed" container, and mostly act like an ADULT most rangers, and other campers won't bother you. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!

Have your drinks inside or put in a container that is generic looking to enjoy outside. No one's business what is inside. Enjoy your Happy Hour!
