I am told a word to the wise is sufficient. I was trying to locate a shop to replace a vent and to service my enginee / generator. The web brought up a Camping World in Chattanooga Tn and Bills RV in Rome, Ga. In calling to obtain prices; Camping World gave me a price and when I contacted Bills RV in Rome Ga I was greated by the owner "Bill". I have never talked to a man that was running a business that was as rude as "Bill". When I mentioned Camping World to him it must have hit a nerve for he became loud and direct in his conversation. He told me "just take your rig to Camping World " then hung up on me. I will never utilize his services if I am in his area ever!

I have never understood why there are some people who do not want to face the fact they have to compete with other businesses for your money.

I suspect that if he did not care then, he will not care now!

Been in the service business longer than I care to admit. My philosophy has always been friends don't fire friends. Meaning I work hard to make all my customers friends by providing the best possible service. Not sure why this is so hard for other business owners to understand. As a customer I don't mind paying a few bucks more for great service.

Same here. I'll gladly pay a premium to get it done right the first time by someone who will stand behind their work. The cheapest price is often not the best value.

We have a Camping World across the Interstate from us. They make it a point to undercut our prices and badmouth us. We got a rash of really bad a/c unit installs from them that we had to re-do. I wanted to put up a sign by their driveway that said "We fix $65 a/c Installs", with our shop phone #, but decided against it.
Anyway, my point (I have one) is maybe Bill has had it up to here with Camping World and their antics at that location, though I think he went way overboard in over-reacting.

I like everyone else want the best product or service. You need to understand asking someone to reduce their rate to match a lesser product or service will not provide good results. Most times the vendor / service provider would rather not have this new customer.

I know I'm tired of businesses not doing what they say they will or doing it poorly. I paid a lawn service to cut my acre lawn while I was gone on my last 4000 mile trip. Got home and the grass was almost 2 ft high. Called them and got all kinds of excuses. Got my money back but it took me a week to cut the tall grass.

Called a pest control to get rid of the 100 million ants in the yard. Said they would be here Wed. morning. Moved all the toys, cars, boats and trucks so they could do the whole thing. No show, called no reply. Moved everything back and on Sat while we were gone they came and sprayed everything. Had to wash it all....

I don't think 95% of the businesses today give a damn...
