Allied Insurance/FMCA

Has anyone had good/bad experience with subject insurance company?

State Farm is quoting me $1300 and Allied $490, Progressive is $700 and few others. State Farm threw up that I'm getting a multi-car discount and my premiums would go up, love being bullied. Right now "I'm saving $420" a year according to State Farm. Not real happy with their customer service but have been with them for 30 something years. Am thinking of taking off the MH and put that will Allied.

I too have State Farm for home and autos. I thought their MH policy was not at all tailored and the Allied rate was extremely good. I still got the State Farm multi-car discount since I have three other vehicles. I have not yet had a claim on my Allied policy. That is the real test.

Allied is a good company with a long history. Since 1998 they are now part of the Nationwide Insurance company. But going from 1300 to 490, I would bet there is more than just a company change. Part of that reduction might be going from full replacement to actual value or agreed value coverage. Its important to study the policy/quote in detail to understand if its apples to apples. the agents idea of full coverage may differ when trying to be the lower quote.

I have Allied insurance on our MH through Winnebago via Farm and Country agency in IA. Yes,it is less than the previous Good Sam MH policy. After receiving the Allied declarations page I noted it does not cover some items the GS policy covered, like awnings and toppers. I'm switching back this April so my awnings and toppers, and other stuff I can't remember now are covered
Moral, ask detailed questions, read the terms and conditions closely before signing.

Dan; did you double check the term period of the insurance that Allied and Progressive quoted you? I've caught some companies quoting a very low price only to read the fine print and find out that it's a 6 month quote, not a yearly quote, thus the big difference in $'s.
